Overview
Yoon Suk Shin is a senior patent attorney with a full range of experience prosecuting patent applicationsbefore the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) in the fields ofchemistry, biotechnology,biochemistry and pharmaceuticals. She has extensive experience handling patent litigation mattersbefore the Korean courts in the fields of pharmaceuticals, material and chemical process, and advisesclients on technology transfers and licensing agreements. She also has assisted and represented variousclients in pharmaceutical regulatory matters with administrative bodies including the Patent andMarketing Approval Linkage System. This broad mix of experience provides a solid foundation for hereffective representations of multinational corporations.
Prior to joining Lee International IP & Law, Ms. Shin worked at leading Korean law firms, including Kim & Chang from 1998 to 2001 and First Law Lee & Ko from 2001 to 2003. She also worked at Grossman,Tucker, Perreault & Pfleger, PLLC in the United States (2006).
Ms. Shin graduated from Seoul National University with B.S. and M.A. degrees in biotechnology. She also studied intellectual property law at the Franklin Pierce Center for IP Law at the University of New Hampshire School of Law in the United States (M.I.P., 2006). She is fluent in Korean and English, and she has a professional working knowledge of Japanese.
Ms. Shin presented IP protection in Korea at the BIO IPCC (BIO Intellectual Property Counsel Conference)in the United States in 2010 and 2011 and addressed the Patent Term Extension System in Korea at theAIPPI Congress in Seoul in 2012. Further, She moderated the session “Patentability of Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Inventions” at the 2013 Korea–US Intellectual Property Judicial Conference in Korea. In2018, She participated in the panel discussion of “Drafting applications in Asia” organized by APEG of theEPO. She also participated in a panel discussion of “Patent Linkage” organized by the Pharma Committeeof AIPPI in the 2019 AIPPI World Congress. She is a member of the Pharma Committee of AIPPI and theInternational Subcommittee of the Biotechnology Committee, AIPLA.
