China Daily Forum Unveils the Value of IP in Film and Creative Industries
In collaboration with BIP Asia Forum for the third consecutive year, China Daily Asia Leadership Roundtable held a special panel discussion themed “Strategic IP Management in China’s Film and Creative Industries” from 14:30 to 16:00 on Friday, Dec 2, 2016, at Hall 5 F-G, the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Wan Chai. Industry gurus shared their first-hand experience and took part in an open Q&A session with more than 200 delegates.

The year 2015 is known as the beginning of the Intellectual Property (IP) era. With increased implementation and circulation, IP is continuously changing the ecology of the film and creative industries in terms of content, talent, capital and channels. On the one hand, IP offers fresh inspiration for film makers, internet tycoons and leaders in the music, literature, animation, games and entertainment industries. On the other hand, IP breaks down industry barriers, thus greatly enhancing industry convergence.

China Daily is delighted to have had five distinguished speakers -- Ms. Emily DAI, Web Drama General Manager, iQIYI; Mr. William FENG, Head of Greater China and Vice President of Asia Pacific, the Motion Pictures Association (MPA); Mr. Kailuo LIU, President, Heyi Pictures; Mr. LI Lei, Deputy Director, Filmko Pictures; and Mr. XIAO Fei, Board Chairman & CEO, Beijing UP Picture Group; share their insights on the topic. They analyzed typical cases and market trends from the perspectives of both the film companies and the industry association.

The five “IP generation” film makers discussed ways of protecting IP and maximizing its value. In particular, they defined what makes “good IP” and how IP could change the landscape of the film and cultural industries.
