Mark Bennett joins Hogan Lovells in Sydney

Technology and real estate lawyer Mark Bennett has relocated from Hong Kong to Sydney, where he will be a partner at Hogan Lovells. He was previously a consultant at Simon Reid-Kay & Associates in Hong Kong for nearly three years; before that, he was a lawyer at Bird & Bird and head of technology – legal at Nomura in Mumbai and global head of real estate legal at Lehman Brothers in Hong Kong.

At Hogan Lovells, he will be a member of the Strategic Operations, Agreements and Regulatory (SOAR) practice area within the global regulatory practice group. He is an experienced technology lawyer with over 25 years in the APAC region, specializing in digital commerce, technological services procurement and outsourcing, data governance and digital content (extending to encryption and cybersecurity), software development and commercialization, technology infrastructure, global sourcing, joint ventures, and IPR acquisitions and disposals.

Bennett also works with the wider Hogan Lovells corporate team on complex technology-focused M&A and private equity transactions. He previously held senior in-house roles for over a decade at two global investment banks where he focused on complex outsourcing, disruptive and transformational technology, data and digitalization projects across the globe, including strategic adoption and transformation of emerging technology and digital platforms.

He is also a real estate lawyer and possesses extensive experience in prominent real estate transactions across the globe, including acquisitions and disposals, joint ventures, construction, infrastructure and major projects, hospitality and leisure, and digital infrastructure and data centres.
