Uzbekistan joins Hague Agreement on Industrial Designs

According to the National Information Agency of Uzbekistan, Uzbekistan has formally signed the Hague Agreement Concerning the International Deposit of Industrial Designs, a step to improve its international commerce and safeguard intellectual property rights. This decision became apparent when the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis enacted the draft legislation pertaining to Uzbekistan’s entrance to the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement governing the international registration of industrial designs.

Because of this move, Uzbekistan now provides its citizens with a streamlined procedure for registering industrial designs across many agreement-participating nations after ratifying the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement.

This action demonstrates Uzbekistan’s dedication to promoting innovation, defending intellectual property rights and promoting global commerce. It is anticipated to strengthen the nation’s manufacturing industry by facilitating easier access to international markets and promoting the creation of novel goods.

The Hague Agreement functions as a centralized system that permits the acquisition and maintenance of rights to an industrial design by submitting a single worldwide application. It governs the international registration of industrial designs. Then, this application may be expanded to include any number of the agreement’s signatory nations. The Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement covers more than 70 nations, including those in the Baltic area and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
