WIPO-IPOS IP For Innovation Awards 2022

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) handed out the 2022 WIPO-IPOS IP For Innovation Awards during IP Week @ SG 2022 held from September 6 – 7, 2022 at the Marina Bay Sands Expo & Convention Centre in Singapore. 

The WIPO-IPOS IP For Innovation Awards celebrates Singapore enterprises that have achieved outstanding growth through the successful use of IP. 

This year’s roster of winners is led by Flexxon Pte Ltd which received the WIPO IP Enterprise Medal. The most outstanding recipient of the IPOS IP For Innovation Champions award, Flexxon specializes in next-generation hardware cybersecurity solutions. The global company boasts of a strong IA/IP portfolio that includes 17 patents, strategy and management of its PHY AI Cybersecure SSD, its flagship cybersecurity solution and the world’s first AI-embedded firmware-based cybersecurity solution. 

Aside from Flexxon, the other Singaporean enterprises that are recipients of the IPOS IP for Innovation Awards are the following: 

  • DBS Bank Pte Ltd, a leading financial services group in Asia with a presence in 18 markets. It has proven strong business strategies, processes and commercialization efforts, leveraging IA/IP and technology to unlock new growth engines.  

  • MatchMove Pay Pte Ltd, a financial technology solutions company licensed, authorized and regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore as a Major Payment Institution under the Payment Services Act (2019). The company has created social impact through their innovation by making digital payments and financial services more accessible to the people on the street in developing countries.  

  • Vivo Surgical Pte Ltd, medical device developer and manufacturer with a commercial presence in over 25 international territories. It has a strong IA/IP portfolio with extensive networks of collaborators and partnerships to help increase robotic surgery access to those in developing countries. Its proprietary technologies encompass fields such as Vivo Surgical LED lighting, AI-driven portable endoscopy and minimally invasive disposable surgical robotics.  

Meanwhile, MediaTek (Singapore) Pte Ltd. was presented with the WIPO Users’ Medal, awarded to an early adopter who has innovatively used WIPO's IP services. MediaTek Inc. is the world’s 4th largest global fabless semiconductor company. For over 25 years, MediaTek’s dedication to innovation has positioned them as a market driving force in several key technology areas, including highly power-efficient mobile technologies, automotive solutions and a broad range of advanced multimedia products.

It is truly exciting what innovations our finalists have been able to achieve in making our future more secure, convenient and sustainable,” said minister for culture, community & youth and second minister for law, Edwin Tong SC during the opening ceremony of IP Week @ SG 2022 on September 6, 2022.
