Overview

After earning his PhD in Engineering Geology from the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2005, Dr. Wei Pan began his career as a patent attorney, spending two years at a well-regarded IP law firm. He joined Unitalen in 2007 and became a partner in 2013. He passed the U.S. Patent Bar Exam in 2015 after a year of study at Boston University.

Pan’s expertise encompasses all areas of patent law, including patent procurement, re-examination, invalidation, freedom-to-operate analysis (FTO), patent administrative litigation and patent infringement litigation. His practice is particularly focused on the automotive, aviation, household appliance, refrigeration, medical device, measuring instrument, automation and mechanical apparatus sectors. Known for his proficiency in patent drafting, Pan is highly praised by clients, many of whom are multinational corporations. His strong technical and legal background has enabled him to successfully manage numerous complex patent prosecution and litigation cases, securing his clients’ intellectual property rights both in China and internationally.

Pan is also an active contributor to patent theory and practice research. He has published multiple articles in prominent Chinese and English IP journals and is frequently invited to speak at international conferences and seminars on Chinese patent law and practice.
