Overview

Ruby Tham is a director in Drew & Napier’s intellectual property department, bringing over 18 years of experience in both contentious and non-contentious IP matters. She is recognized for her strategic insight and practical approach in managing complex IP issues across diverse industries.

Tham advises on global brand protection strategy and IP portfolio management, while maintaining an active practice in IP disputes and enforcement, covering trademark opposition, invalidation and revocation proceedings, as well as passing off, copyright, registered designs and domain name recovery. With extensive experience representing clients before the Registry and the High Court, she is described by clients as “a stalwart in the prosecution practice and a force to be reckoned with in opposition and invalidation proceedings” and “on all occasions, courteous and responsive with a high level of expertise”.

On the IP transactional front, Tham’s expertise includes advising, negotiating and drafting agreements relating to IP transfers, mergers and acquisitions, IP-backed financing and licensing and conducting IP due diligence.

Tham’s clients span diverse industries including telecommunications, entertainment media, technology, engineering, chemical, food and beverage, fashion, business management, fast moving consumer goods FMCG, cosmetics, education, medical and pharmaceuticals.

She is a fellow of the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators and has a strong interest in exploring the intersection of technology and law.
