Overview

Hyeong Joo Lim graduated from Seoul National University
College of Engineering and passed the 45th Korea Judicial
Examination in 2003. He has extensive experience in
IP litigation and advising on trade secret and employee
invention matters, and conducting IP compliance
projects and internal investigations (including forensic
examination).
Mr. Lim was selected as one of 40 good lawyers under age
40 (40 under 40) in Asia by Asian Legal Business, and he
was also awarded with a ministerial commendation from
the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy for his hard work
in advancing protection of national core technology. Mr.
Lim was voted as the “Best IP Lawyer” by Korea In-house
Counsel Association (2022,2020 (biennial)), Korea Super
30 Lawyer by Asian Legal Business (2021) and recognized
in the 2021 Lexology Client Choice Awards as the sole
recipient for Intellectual Property – Patent in South Korea.
Currently, he serves as a member of the following
organizations:
• the Intellectual Property Council for New Technology
Environment (Korea Copyright Commission) on issues
covering AI, Metaverse, NTF, etc.;
• the Committee for Improvement of Legislative Systems
for the AI Industry (National Information Society
Agency);
• the Committee for Improvement of Trade Secret
Protection Systems (Korea Intellectual Property Office);
• the Advisory Committee for Smart Cities; and
• the KoreaBio Association.
Mr. Lim currently leads the New Industy IP Team of the
IP & Technology Practice at Yulchon and serves as the
deputy head of the Digital Forensic Center.
