John Dieckmann promoted to partner at Clayton Utz

John Dieckmann has been promoted to partner at Clayton Utz in Melbourne, effective January 1, 2021.

Dieckmann is a technology lawyer whose practice involves large-scale technology procurement projects (such as business process and technology outsourcings, offshorings, system development and integration projects and managed services agreements), internet and e-commerce matters, data security and privacy issues, software licensing, cloud services agreements and major commercial transactions in the technology sector. He also advises regularly on intellectual property and technology issues in significant construction and infrastructure projects, and has considerable expertise in advising on IT transition and separation projects and the intellectual property and technology aspects of M&A transactions.

Dieckmann holds dual qualifications in law and IT and has advised some of Australia’s largest companies, public sector bodies, government departments and technology suppliers on a range of high-profile technology matters. He was a key adviser on IP and technology issues associated with the privatization of Melbourne’s train and tram network in 1999 and again in 2009, as well as on the IP aspects of the supply and maintenance arrangements for the procurement of new tram rolling stock from Bombardier in 2010.
