Kate Hynes joins Keypoint as consulting principal

Brisbane-based lawyer brings talent in film, television and digital games.

Kate Hynes has joined Keypoint Law as a consulting principal, based in Brisbane. She is a general corporate and commercial lawyer with a particular niche in film, television and digital games.

Before joining Keypoint, Hynes led the legal, business affairs and corporate regulatory function for Hoodlum, an Emmy and BAFTA award-winning film and television production company. She was also formerly the chief legal officer for Halfbrick Studios, the video game company behind Fruit Ninja – the smash-hit mobile game achieving over 1 billion downloads and becoming one of the first games used to help rehabilitate stroke patients.

Before moving in-house, Hynes was a senior associate in the general commercial practices of Kelly Hazell Quill and Norton Rose Fulbright, where she acted primarily for large clients within the areas of media, intellectual property, international trade and contract law.

Hynes is currently the deputy chair of Trade and Investment Queensland, overseeing the governance and strategy of TIQ across its 17 international offices.

She brings a wealth of sector knowledge and experience in media and entertainment to the firm, further bolstering Keypoint’s Brisbane-based operations and national service offering across 25 areas.
