Leading regional firms create DNA

Singapore’s Drew & Napier, Malaysia’s Shearn Delamore & Co. and Makarim & Taira S. from Indonesia are to launch a new regional legal network called the Drew Network Asia (DNA).

Although the three firms will remain independent, they will operate as a “firm of firms” so that clients be seamlessly serviced in multiple jurisdictions, they told Asia IP.

DNA links together two of the region’s oldest and largest law firms. Drew & Napier established in 1889, includes leading IP Experts Tony Yeo and Yvonne Tang, with Shearn Delamore & Co., established in 1905, adding IP Experts Karen Abraham and Jyeshta Mahendran. Relative newcomer Makarim & Taira S., established in 1980, completes the network, and is one of Indonesia’s leading full service law firms. The combined network will include over 420 fee earners.

“The DNA network will provide a full service legal team with international perspective, strong local expertise and impeccable service standards” the firms told Asia IP.
