Deepak Lamba has been promoted to partner at Remfry & Sagar. He has been a patent professional for more than 15 years, and has extensive experience in dealing with pharmaceutical and chemical patents. His practice includes drafting patent applications, preparing and prosecuting both domestic and international applications as well as handling foreign patent filings. He has successfully handled numerous opposition matters as well. With a specialization in microbiology, Lamba’s technical background gives him a strong foundation for understanding inventions and he helps clients think forward by identifying aspects of their inventions they might not have thought to patent, ensuring enhanced protection for valuable, market-leading innovations. He also appears regularly before the patent office and has earned the reputation of a ‘problem solver’ given his knack for resolving stalled matters.

V. Mohini has been promoted to partner at Remfry & Sagar. She is a disputes specialist with close to 15 years of experience in litigation. She has counseled clients extensively on trademark infringement, unfair competition, copyright and design infringement and domain name disputes – advising on IP strategy, risk assessment, risk preemption and mitigation, pre-litigation issues, litigation lifecycle management, dispute resolution and settlement negotiations. Her understanding of the Indian judicial system and complexities of trial comes from first-hand involvement in a large number of cases litigated before the Supreme Court of India, various high courts and the Intellectual Property Appellate Board (IPAB). She understands the needs of clients’ businesses and crafts customized strategies for protection, maximization and enforcement of IP rights.

Nipun Sangra has been promoted to partner at Remfry & Sagar. He has more than 15 years of professional experience in intellectual property and is a trademark prosecution expert at the firm. With his deep understanding of the laws and procedures governing protection of trademarks in India, one of his key roles is to formulate strategies for managing IP portfolios. He focuses his practice on both domestic and international trademark prosecution, due diligence, recording changes in title and licensing of marks.

Shivam Vikram Singh has been promoted to partner at Remfry & Sagar. Singh has been with the firm since 2005 and advises clients across varied industries to manage, protect and enforce their portfolio of intellectual property rights, not just in India but in overseas jurisdictions as well. He has extensive experience in handling trademark oppositions, cancellations and appeals and is expert at evaluating watch notices, conducting investigations and due diligences, and negotiating settlement and coexistence agreements. He also counsels clients on wide array of copyright and design prosecution and enforcement issues. He has developed a high level of proficiency in tackling complex IP issues and devising suitable strategies for resolution, and has successfully argued matters before the Trade Marks Office, Intellectual Property Appellate Board (IPAB) and the Copyright Board.

Tanmay Joshi has been promoted to partner-designate at Remfry & Sagar. Joshi has been with the firm for nearly a decade and advises clients on trademark portfolio development and maintenance strategies. His practice includes prosecution of marks in India and overseas, encompassing filing, attending to examination reports and arguing before the Trade Marks Office for acceptance of applications and other issues associated with the registration of marks. He has also conducted several brand auditing and due diligence projects. He helps in developing content on trending trademark issues and his wide ranging expertise enables him to make valuable contributions on matters of trademark policy.

R Mahesh has been promoted to partner-designate at Remfry & Sagar. He works with clients across a wide range of technologies, including software, electronics and telecommunications, and mechanical devices and instruments. He provides strategic advice to large corporations and start-up companies in the development of their patent portfolios and assists with freedom to operate searches and analysis. His practice includes patent prosecution, providing infringement and invalidity opinions, conducting patentability/ novelty searches, counselling clients on design-around advice and competitive monitoring and analysis as well as assisting with due diligence exercises. He is also a registered patent agent.

Ritam Rawal has been promoted to partner-designate at Remfry & Sagar. Rawal focuses his practice on patent protection and has almost a decade’s worth of experience in prosecuting Indian and international patent applications. He prosecutes patent applications in fields including semiconductors, software technologies, communication systems, display devices, security systems, mobile technologies, data systems, weaving technologies and automobile technologies. He also has expertise in drafting complete/ provisional applications and writes opinions with regards to patentability, preparing clearance and the freedom to operate. Prior to joining Remfry & Sagar, Rawal worked as a junior research fellow at the Goa State Council for Science & Technology. He is a registered patent agent.

Sangeeta Savant has been promoted to partner-designate at Remfry & Sagar. She joined the firm in 2006 and has more than 10 years of experience as a trademark practitioner. She specializes in advising clients on the availability, adoption and protection of their brands and also on the growth and sustainability of their trademarks. Her practice areas include trademark prosecution, assignment and licensing. She also represents the firm in application and assignment hearings before various branches of the Trade Marks Office. Savant has gained experience in strategic management of international IP portfolios and guiding administrative procedures. She is recognized for her abilities in liaising with outside law firms, clients and other external agencies.
