Stuart Gibson joins Macpherson Kelley in Melbourne

Stuart Gibson has joined Macpherson Kelley in Melbourne as a principal and member of the firm’s commercial team.

Gibson has extensive experience in intellectual property and entertainment law, with a particular bent for defamation matters. He has worked with high-profile individuals and businesses, and advises many of Australia’s leading retail brands including Brett Blundy Retail Group, and global brands Lovisa, Honey Birdette, Bassike and State of Escape Accessories.

“IP disputes and defamation matters are not for the faint of heart. They require a strong resolve and in-depth knowledge of the intricacies of law. Stuart is unafraid to call a spade a spade and this resonates with our firm’s value of talking straight and providing no-nonsense advice,” said Grant Guenther, the firm’s national managing principal lawyer

Gibson’s addition to the team and experience in some of Australia’s landmark IP judgments will bolster the existing skills of the firm’s practice group.

“My approach to each matter is different from the next and I am unafraid to seek out creative solutions to get a great result,” Gibson says. “Macpherson Kelley’s reputation for putting clients first resonates for this bespoke approach to law.”

Gibson joins the firm from Mills Oakley, where he was an advisory partner.
