Police Seize 19,965 Pirated VCDs, DVDs

Police seized 19,965 pirated DVDs and VCDs and arrested two men in a raid in Bandar Seri Permaisuri, Malaysia’s Bernama news agency reported.

The news agency reported that the men, aged 32 and 35, were arrested while taking two plastic bags containing 81 pirated VCDs and DVDs out of their second-floor unit.

”We have been monitoring their activities for a week,” a spokesperson said at a press conference. “Prior to the raid, both men were seen arriving in a black Honda Civic car, entering the unit and coming down 50 minutes later with two black plastic bags.”

Police said the discs were worth an estimated RM100,000 (US$29,400) and were believed to be for sale at night markets. The spokesperson said that one of the men had been arrested last year for a similar offence and that his case was still pending in court.
