A strong intellectual property system would support industrial development and attract foreign investment in Myanmar, senior general Min Aung Hlaing, chairman of Myanmar’s State Administration Council, said in his opening speech at the international conference on intellectual property.

He emphasized that protecting intellectual property is a key pillar of the Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan, outlining the government’s view that a strong IP framework directly encourages creativity and innovation, which are essential for establishing sustainable industrial businesses and securing foreign capital.

The event, held in Naypyidaw, brought together local and international experts to discuss strategies for leveraging a robust IP system to stimulate industrial development, attract foreign investment and foster innovation in Myanmar.

Throughout the event, scholars and industry experts presented research papers and shared insights on best practices in IP management. The discussions aimed to provide actionable strategies for integrating IP rights into the nation’s economic fabric, ultimately contributing to a more innovative and competitive industrial sector.
