Hanim Hamzah joins KWM in Beijing as international partner for business development

Hanim Hamzah has joined King & Wood Mallesons in the role of international partner for business development. With her extensive experience in the Asia-Pacific market and a robust international legal industry network, Hamzah’s arrival is expected to enhance KWM’s international brand and further support clients’ growing cross-border legal needs. Hamzah will join the firm on July 1, and will be based in Beijing, working with partners across all practice groups.

Hamzah was previously a senior advisor at Icon Law, the Singapore member of the ZICO Law network. ZICO Law was until recent weeks part of KPMG Law, the legal arm of Big Four accounting firm KPMG; their two-year-old merger collapsed in April.

Hamzah brings nearly 30 years of experience in Malaysia, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore and elsewhere, specializing in major infrastructure project financing and M&A transactions, with expertise in the aviation, banking, insurance, mining, and oil and gas sectors. She has been recognized for her work in cross-border securitization, structured finance and Islamic finance and has represented investors from Asia, the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe in high-value domestic and offshore multi-currency deals.

KWM global COO Rongkang Wang said: “Hanim’s distinguished track record and her expertise in business development and client relationships will greatly strengthen our competitiveness, particularly in Southeast Asia. We look forward to her contribution towards our clients’ success, and in helping drive KWM’s ambitious growth plans.”
